Top 5 Phrases to Say When Tempted By Unhealthy Food

November 7, 2013 by Edwin

Every time you have a menu in hand or go to a fast food restaurant, you may find yourself tempted to choose the not-so-healthy food options.

Here are 5 phrases to say which will help you stay on the healthier track:

1) “Sauce on the Side”: In many dishes, a large amount of sugar, fat, and calories are in the sauce that is smothered on top or mixed in. Significantly improve the “healthy” factor of a meal by asking for the sauce on the side so that you can mindfully control the amount of sauce you eat.

2) “No Sugar”: An easy way to minimize your afternoon energy lull and keep your blood sugar levels under control is by repeating the phrase “no sugar please.” Minimize the amount of sugar you add to your coffee or tea and be cautious of the sugar syrups that restaurants add to flavor your drinks.

3) “More Water Please”:  Dehydration is often considered the root cause of many common ailments such as headaches, joint pain and hypertension. We also sometimes mistake the feeling of thirst with the feeling of hunger, and eat when should be simply drinking more water. Drink water often and you will curb your desire for those not-so-healthy food options.

4) “Smallest Size”: Many of us feed until we’re full. Simply put, we eat too much. To ensure you fuel your body with just the right amount of food that you need, eat slowly, eat often, and eat small portions.

5) “No Thank You”: An obvious phrase, but difficult one to say when you are tempted by certain foods. Be disciplined, stay strong, and just say “no.”
